The young season has now hit an all-time low...as the D-backs lose 4-3 tonight to the Giants and end up getting swept...wow...can we please go back to April?! The Diamondbacks have now lost four straight, and are 3-7 in their last 10.
It was sad that the terrific outing by Randy Johnson went for not. The Big Unit went seven and only gave up two runs, along with nine K's to tie for second place all-time with Roger Clemens. Johnson left the game with a 3-2 lead and it appeared likely he would pick up career win 289 tonight...but Tony Pena promptly came in and walked a couple of guys to let San Francisco tie it up. Chad Qualls then gave up a solo shot to Randy Winn in the ninth and that was all she wrote. Qualls moves to 0-5 on the year now...but still only has a 3.12 ERA...strange.
However, it was nice to see another good hitting night from Justin Upton. I figured he was about to turn it up a notch again. He had a homer and a triple with a couple of steaks.
Next the D-backs will take on the Nationals tomorrow night, with Micah Owings on the hill. Maybe Owings can get the D-backs pitching and hitting going...
