Eric Byrnes was on XTRA Sports 910 AM this morning for his Friday morning segment with Bickley and MJ. The segment actually sounded more like a therapy session than a radio interview.
Byrnesie was not real pleased with D-back fans for their booing of him in Wednesday's game against the Rockies. He said they pay their money and have a right, but....
He spent most of the interview trying to convince Bickley and MJ that he's gone through this before (9-for-96 slump while he was in Oakland), and that he'll be fine. Sounded to me more like he was trying to convince himself of it. Not sure if he'll be in the lineup tonight against the Tigers, but I think keeping him out too long will mess with his head even more.
Byrnes mentioned that one of things he has noticed from watching tape is that he's trying too hard right now....that's exactly what I mentioned the other day. He's swinging out of his shoes every time up. He needs to just relax...see a few good pitches...and play pepper out there...it will come back. Oh, and please change the at-bat intro song!
3:20 PM UPDATE: Nick Piecoro from the Arizona Republic just told me that Eric Byrnes will in fact be in the lineup tonight....great news. Go do some serious damage out there Byrnesie....

He better get it together - but I think this series against the lowly Tigers may give him the boost
