Lyon implodes in ninth...D-backs go down to LA

Two days in a row now that Brandon Lyon has come into the game in the ninth, and totally stunk up the place. Last night, he was fortunate to escape out of there without blowing Dan Haren's masterful game. Today, he wasn't so fortunate.

Lyon gave up five runs...that's right five runs by a closer, on five hits as he blew a 4-1 lead going into the ninth inning, as the Dodgers won it 6-5.

An outstanding pitching effort from Brandon Webb was wasted...he only gave up one run in his eight innings of work.

This bullpen of the Diamondbacks has absolutely gone to pot...there doesn't seem to be a single reliable arm down there. We all keep thinking that another bat should be obtained before the trading deadline...now I'm thinking another arm is needed more.

What a huge disappointment. D-backs and Dodgers are once again tied atop the NL Worst. This is going to be a very interesting last two and a half months of the year.
